Important Notices and Prohibited Items

Notes on using the park

  • The park is for public use and the use of fire is prohibited.
  • Please do not damage the facilities or collect any plants or animals.
  • Smoking is prohibited within the park, except in designated smoking areas (located in Kadowaki parking lot).
  • Please take all your trash with you.
  • Please be sure to park your car, motorcycle, etc. in the parking lots. Parking lots are open from 9:00 to 18:00 from April 1st to September 30th, and from 9:00 to 17:00 from October 1st to March 31st.
  • Each parking lot will be closed after these hours. Sleeping in your car in the parking lots is not permitted.
  • Please refrain from practicing driving or driving recklessly in the parking lots.
  • Regular vehicles, motorbikes, and bicycles are prohibited from entering the park. (Bicycles are permitted in some areas.)
  • Please keep pets on a leash or in a cage when entering the park. However, please refrain from bringing pets into the Prayer Area, Memorial Square, or Miyagi Memorial Museum of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. (Guide dogs, hearing dogs, and service dogs are excluded.)
  • *Please take your dog’s feces with you when you leave.
  • *If your pet causes any inconvenience or harm to other visitors, the owner is solely responsible for resolving the issue.
  • If the park manager determines that something is dangerous or a nuisance, you may be refused entry.

Items brought into the park

The following items are prohibited from being brought in or have restrictions on their use.
Guns and swords (including model guns, wooden swords, and bamboo swords), boomerangs, bows and arrows, slingshots, flying models and models with engines (including radio-controlled cars, drones, and model yachts), fishing nets, plant-collecting tools, fishing equipment, golf equipment, wooden and metal bats, hard balls, baseball equipment, and nets for ball games (a separate permit must be applied for if baseball is to be played in the plaza), highly explosive or flammable fireworks, gunpowder, large amounts of gas appliances, oils, and fire-using equipment (except for use in events), bicycles (some areas are permitted), unicycles, skateboards and kick scooters, musical instruments (those with amplifiers), sound equipment for karaoke, boats and canoes, small tents and tarps (dome-shaped tents under 2m are permitted except in the memorial plaza), large tents, and other items that may be a nuisance to other users or that are deemed to be dangerous.
