Minamihama area
1964
Until the Edo period, the seaside of Shojinbori was a lagoon and sandy beaches. Later, when it was reclaimed, it became a mulberry field, an orchard, and a paddy field, and the area began to be used as a residential area.

1987
During the high economic growth period, Ishinomaki Minamihamacho was developed as a residential area, and the land readjustment project was completed in 1977. A city hospital and a city cultural center were developed as the city’s core facilities.

Taken on March 12, the day after the earthquake The Minamihama district (Minamihamacho, Kadonowakicho, and Hibarinocho) became one of the most damaged areas in Ishinomaki City due to the tsunami and the spread of fire.
